 Charlotte Ross' Connie McDowell was baptized into the 15 squad in true NYPD Blue fashion March 20, when she displayed her investigative chops and unveiled her physical charms by breaking a case in her underwear.
McDowell, a petite, blond firecracker, was working a bar rape when a drink was spilled on her blouse. Using the ladies' room, where the crime took place, to clean up, McDowell noticed a camera planted in the ceiling and realized tha tthe illegal device would have taped the rape. Bur Ross added a whimsically appropriate touch when McDowell rapped a skell on the skull to prompt him to get up As she wrapped up this week's case, her curt dismissal ofone of the rapists, "Bye, Jake," as he was hauled away burnished her steely, sarcastic core. Conversly, her interview of the rape victim was businesslike, yet sensitive to the victim's trauma.
And when it came time to take a bow, after Fancy offered her a permenant spot in the squad, Ross' measured response illustrated a thoughtful demeanor: She knows her job and how to keep her eyes and ears open around the house. McDowell's flinty yet slightly flippant attitude makes he a unique and welcome addition to the15.
